Abstract
Article 85 pronounces itself on the authentic texts and the authentification of the Convention. The five languages Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are equally authentic. The original text of the Convention in the five languages shall be deposited with the Secretary-General of the United Nations. The penultimate clause of the Convention provides that in witness whereof the undersigned Plenipotentiaries, being duly authorized thereto by their respective Governments, have signed the Convention. According to the final sentence of the Convention, all this was done at Vienna, this twenty-third day of May, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine. The signatures of various States are in that, a list of which is reproduced in Status of the Convention.
