This chapter focuses on the large number of textual testimonies from the eight to the seventeenth centuries, and the predominantly positive responses that the Cento elicited during this period. It traces the uses of the text from the pre-Carolingian period and various early medieval scholarly contexts to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries when it became a paratext to the Virgilian works. Finally, it discusses the part that Proba and her Cento played in the early feminist discourse.
