Abstract

This article aims to address how the arts can contribute to making or re/creating a more sustainable society. In order to do so, it explores and analyses the work of Lucía Loren and her experience with environmental art. First, this chapter will describe the important role of local communities and how every change is initiated by the community’s needs. Following this, it looks at Lucía’s work, her process, her interaction with the space and the community, and the short and long-term impact of her interventions/interactions. As an outcome, we will show how Lucia’s work can be described as a tool for community members to embrace the arts to re-imagine change and impact their own environment.
