Abstract

This chapter presents a bird’s-eye view of 50 years of academic work on the professional development of mathematics and science teachers, conducted alongside curriculum development and research on teaching and learning at the Department of Science Teaching, Weizmann Institute of Science. It presents the evolving approaches, their rationale, and the accumulated wisdom and experiences which have impacted, and continue to impact the educational system in Israel.
