Abstract

This article considers the cultural and religious factors impacting on human rights, beyond freedom of religion or belief in its narrow boundaries. With migration, conflicts, globalization and communication technologies, diversity has become the main feature and challenge of modern societies. How can human rights tools offer better management of related risks and negative impact on everyone’s fundamental freedoms? This article submits that individuals and communities from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds can flourish when the triangle of art, faith and rights is optimized in a conceptually coherent and practically implementable “Faith for Rights” approach.
