This chapter response poses three questions, or “queeries,” to the chapter, “Queer Joy as Affective Incitement to Queer and Trans Studies in Education” by Duran and Coloma: 1) Who, of those researching 2sLGBTQ+ identities and topics in doctoral programs, has access to queer joy within their research? 2) What happens when expression of queer joy makes us a killjoy to others? and 3) Who deserves to see and know queer joy? These queeries engage in dialogue with the themes raised by Duran and Coloma from the perspective of a chronically ill trans PhD candidate at a university in a remote location.
