Abstract

Scientific objective: The aim of this paper is to analyse the process of political communication in selected Polish religious portals (deon.pl, gosc.pl, aleteia.pl, Stacja7.pl, wiara.pl) related to political events in Poland in the period of 06.08.2019–30.04.2020.

Research methods: The undertaken research used the method of quantitative and qualitative content analysis.

Results and conclusions: The deon.pl, gosc.pl and wiara.pl web portals can be treated as active participants in political communication. On the other hand, aleteia.pl and Stacja7.pl distanced themselves from taking up issues related to Polish politics in the period 2019–2020, while gosc.pl, wiara.pl and deon.pl websites legitimised the activities of the United Right and expressed political support to right-wing leaders, including Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, and also supported Andrzej Duda in the 2020 presidential campaign.

Cognitive value: The analysis undertaken here increases the cognitive value in the area of political involvement of Polish religious websites.
