Suddenly, without time for proper preparation, educators across the world in 2020 adapted to a totally new way of teaching because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Everybody felt overwhelmed during these times of great change, causing stress and anxiety for both students and teachers. Educators still feel particularly strained, as they have to constantly manage the worry associated with threats to our health, well-being, and livelihood. Furthermore, most of them are taking care of their own children and families at home, while also assisting students with personal, practical and academic development. In this scenario, it is important to prioritise self-care for everyone involved, taking note of physical, emotional, and mental needs and actively working to meet these in the best way possible. This helps to prevent being overstressed, keeps us emotionally healthy and socially engaged in our lives and is the way to bring joy and satisfaction. Much is changing so rapidly that we are likely to need support in identifying needs and finding new ways of meeting them. The chapter gives ideas and insight for support.
