Ficino’s view of Plotinus’ relation to Christianity as shown especially in his treatise against the Gnostics (Ennead II. 9) and by the fact that he was taught by a Christian (Ammonius Saccas) and was a fellow-student of a Christian (Origen). Except in the case of transmigration theory, Plotinus is seen by Ficino as in conflict not with Christianity as such but only with the Gnostics’ perversion of both Christianity and Platonism.
