Abstract
The chapter studies one aspect of the human soul’s embodiment: namely, sensation. The particular focus is on the sense of vision as considered especially in Ficino’s commentaries on Enneads II. 8 and IV. 5, not only because of Plotinus’ and Ficino’s intrinsic interest in optical theory but also because it will provide important analogies for both thinkers’ doctrine of intellection.
