Abstract

This chapter forms a climactic point in the discussions contained in the present study, exploring in detail the notion of reason-principle (ratio, logos) which has already appeared more as a side issue in numerous contexts. Of particular importance among the various aspects now brought into focus are the derivation of the levels of ratio from the supreme Logos (second Person of the Trinity), the Plotinian quasi-hypostasis of logos associated with the higher and lower phases of the world-soul, the association of the higher phase with providence and the lower phase with nature, and the formal-intentional use of logos.
