This introductory chapter aims to provide a reader with a bird’s-eye exposi-tion of the system to be investigated in the book. The chapter is divided into three parts. The first short section presents the important and founda-tional notion of hyperintensionality. The second part intro-duces the system to be investigated within the book informally. The aim is not to provide a full formal and technical specification of the system but rather an informal discussion of the relevant features of the system. The system is presented as an extended typed lambda calculus interpreted over an inductive system of constructions specified over a system of partial func-tions. Every notion used in this characterisation is briefly introduced, discussed, and put into connection with others. The aim of the third part of the chapter is to discuss some of the most relevant philosophical discus-sions concerning the relevance and usability of the system as a whole.
