Chapter 6: tacking as a methodology: a tacktical methodology is the final chapter. The goal of this chapter is to respond most directly to the key question of the book: How can artists and others in positions of influence, think differently about the way they do what they do? It shows how a tacktical methodology might be used or understood to not only create and think about art differently but to engage with and think about the world differently too. Although there are an infinite number of possibilities, here I present just ten ways a tacktical methodology might do this. These include propositions for making art differently, for unlearning art as we know it, for engaging with contemporary art differently, for adopting a kind of non-indifference to art, for singularising, for engaging with strangerness, for taking difference seriously, for possibly recalling privilege, for creating the conditions for relations to flourish and finally for constituting a different politics for art.
