This chapter examines anti-Asian racism in Europe from a case study carried out among Chinese migrants and descendants living in France. It begins with a review of literature on anti-Asian racism worldwide, focusing on Asian stereotypes in Europe. Then the chapter analyses anti-Chinese racism in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic based on quantitative and qualitative data collected for the MigraChiCovid research project. We use quantitative data to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the subjective experience of racism by people of Chinese origin in France. Then, based on qualitative data, we analyse social differentiation among Chinese in France in how they understand and respond to anti-Asian racism. Through the case of the “Association des Jeunes Chinois de France” (Association of Young Chinese in France), we analyse how the discourse on anti-Asian racism evolved from 2010 to 2021. The chapter ends with new research agendas for future studies and makes connections with other research, especially in North America. As a whole, the chapter emphasizes the specificity of the French case and highlights the importance of social networking and digital tools (such as WeChat) in the identity formation and collective actions of Chinese overseas and their descendants.
