Abstract

This chapter highlights the efforts and limitations of STEMSTEAM education in Türkiye, where the Ministry of National Education has implemented two projects—eTwinning and Fostering STEAM Education in Schools (EDUSIMSTEAM)—for the enhancement of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) education. Although some research related to STEAM education has been conducted at universities, more studies have involved science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education than art. In some private schools STEM education is provided under the name STEAM education, in which the design field is partially included, but the art field is not equitably represented. In this chapter I analyze the shortcomings of Türkiye’s STEAM education and propose that the main reason for this is the scarcity of experts available to contribute to the “A” in STEAM education.
