Abstract

This chapter focuses primarily on the need for and practice of STEAM education in the school systems of Penang State, Malaysia. Recognizing the challenges in developing and promoting STEAM education, the author affirms the value of school-based and community-based STEAM projects. Notably, the impact of STEAM education on students includes enhancing their creativity, problem-solving abilities, teamwork skills, and leadership qualities. Based on the author’s observation of and leadership in STEAM initiatives, he perceives positive responses from teachers and students. Looking ahead, the author offers a critique of STEAM education in Penang and suggests that the Penang State school systems bolster teacher training and resource allocation to ensure high-quality STEAM education for all students.
