Abstract

In this chapter we share our use of a STEAM-infused curriculum to enable children to understand the cultural, historical, and family data of the Hakka ethnic group at a 2021 online summer camp. Data visualization can help children connect with their families closely, understand ethnic groups deeply, compile information objectively, and interpret stories based on and through raw data. We concluded that data visualization not only helps children explore family emotions and the collective memory of their ethnic group but also gives them an essential dose of data literacy.
