The article presents the results of a project that led to a collective organisation designed to assess and follow the level of adoption of precision agriculture in France. This organisation, called the French Observation Centre of Digital Agriculture adoption (FrOCDA) allowed the design and the set-up of an original and exhaustive study method mainly based on interviews of the main players in precision farming in France. The article presents the results of three studies. The first study dealt with remote sensing. It showed that the adoption of this technology is relatively high in field crops (about 1,000,000 ha) and more marginal in viticulture. The second dealt with soil mapping. The mapping remains marginal since it concerns 130,000 ha mainly in viticulture. Finally, the use of agricultural robotics in France will be presented.
