Doing ethnography within the area of globalization often presents challenges for both ethnographic methods as well as ethnographic writing. For years, the dominant division between quantitative hard data and qualitative soft data has shaped ethnographic empiricism and realism. Today, however, interconnectedness and technological mediation call for combined or even innovative methods of ethnographic ‘doing’ and ‘writing’. My paper will discuss the issue of multimodality and how it can contribute in grasping the challenges of the interconnectedness of our world. In particular, I will explore how multimodality can refresh Anthropology of Greece as a regional field by postulating different histories interrelationships and also new forms of representation though data visualisation combined with more traditional ethnographic methods.
