This paper discusses the problems of historical perspectives using the example of a historical transitional phase: the creation of the Egyptian ‘national state’ and the subsequent characterization of certain interpretation patterns and modes of representation. This empowering art (‘Macht-Kunst’), which served the construction of a postwar order and, as a stage for the victor’s perspective, was accompanied by the development of a fixed language of formulae. At the same time, the question arises as to the conspicuously lost perspective of the losers.
