In this chapter, which draws on a number of informal conversations with house-church leaders in China, the adequacy of Western religious labels such as Pentecostalism is called into question. There appears to be a sharp divide between a focus on supernatural experiences in rural house churches and a more rational and philosophical approach among educated leaders of urban house churches. The complex issue of religious freedom is also discussed, drawing on the perspective of church leaders in Singapore and elsewhere.
