There can be no doubt that professionals= ethos is one of the key dimensions of pedagogical professionalism. In fact, the former could be considered as one of the most central dimensions of the latter and consequently demands university’s curricula of teachers= education to provide opportunities to train the (future) teachers= ethos. However, various concepts embrace the same differently which poses the difficulty to write up clear educational goals considering teachers= ethos. To meet this shortcoming, this article, therefore, strives to find defining elements of teachers= ethos by analyzing the term itself from a linguistic point of view. With the help of these findings, implications will be drawn with regards to the education of teachers= ethos. Above all, this article will point out further directions of research on teachers= ethos.
