This chapter presents the first results of the international project called Imagines Cathedralis Ecclesiae Compostellanae carried out by the author, co-funded by the European Union’s Marie Curie Program and a Brandenburg Research Academy and International Network fellowship of the Ministry of Sciences, Research and Cultural Affairs of the Federal State of Brandenburg. It was developed during 2015 and 2016 at the Department of History of Architecture in the Brandenburgische Technische University of Cottbus and thanks to different research stays in the archives, museums and libraries of Santiago de Compostela (Biblioteca Universitaria, Archivo Histórico de la Universidad, Museo do Pobo Galego, Instituto de Estudios Gallegos Padre Sarmiento and Museo de las Peregrinaciones y Santiago), Madrid (Biblioteca Nacional), Florence (Kunsthistorisches Institut), Berlin (Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut, Staatsbibliothek and Kunstbibliothek) and New York (Hispanic Society).
