Abstract

This chapter presents results from the analysis of large vertebrate remains in Kabri. The small faunal assemblages from the Early and Late Palace phases (VIV and IVIII, respectively) are compared with respect to taxonomic diversity, butchery practices, and assemblage taphonomy. The results can be used cautiously to suggest an expansion of palatial economic activities between the two phases, and also incorporation of more mundane consumption to the place proper. At the same time, some deposits indicative of ritual feasting are indicated.
