This chapter examines the relationship between the Occupy Central with Love and Peace (OCLP) Movement and building civil society in Hong Kong, as well as the role of Christians in this relationship. Using Robert Putnam’s model of civic community, the author investigates to what extent the OCLP expressed the spirit of civic virtue, which is instrumental in building a civil society. The findings show that the OCLP endeavored to cultivate civic virtues and strengthen civil society in Hong Kong, and Christians played a significant role in advocating the OCLP and supporting universal suffrage.
