Abstract
Christian Palestinian Aramaic is the only Late Aramaic dialect that lacks an Infinitive. I argue that the loss of the form and the choice of the Imperfect to take over its functions were facilitated by convergence with Arabic, just like in the typologically similar Western Neo-Aramaic. Sedentarization processes of Arabic-speaking pastoralists in the centuries preceding the Muslim conquest and subsequent language shift to Aramaic provide a possible contact-scenario that could account for the Arabic influence.

ארמית נוצרית ארץ-ישראלית היא הדיאלקט הארמי המאוחר היחיד שלא קיימת בו צורת מקור. אני טוען שאובדן צורה זו והבחירה להחליפה בצורת העתיד בתפקיד דקדוקי זה נעשו בסיוע ההתלכדות עם הערבית, כמו שקרה בארמית המערבית החדשה, הדומה לדיאלקט זה מבחינה טופולוגית. תהליך ההתיישבות של דוברי הערבית הנודדים במאות השנים שלפני הכיבוש המוסלמי ומעבר השפה לאחר מכן לארמית מספקים מצב מגע אפשרי, שיכול להסביר את ההשפעה הערבית.

إنّ اللّهجة الآراميّة الفلسطينيّة المسيحيّة هي اللّهجة الآراميّة المتأخّرة الوحيدة التي تفتقر إلى المصدر. أنا أزعم أنّ فقدان هذه الصّيغة (أي المصدر) واختيار الفعل المضارع لتولّي وظائفه تمّ تسهيلهما من خلال التّقارب مع اللّغة العربيّة، تمامًا كما هو الحال في الآراميّة الغربيّة المتشابهة نسبيّا. عمليّات التّحضير للرّعاة النّاطقين بالعربيّة في القرون الّتي سبقت الفتح الإسلاميّ وما تلاه من تحوّل اللّغة إلى الآراميّة توفّر سيناريو اتّصال محتمل يمكن أن يفسّر التّأثير العربيّ.
