Using Information and Communication Technology for Teacher Learning and Curriculum Development in Tanzania and Zimbabwe

In: Education Reform in Societies in Transition

Transitional societies face many struggles, including the sprint to keep up with technological developments. In the field of education, researchers and educators are exploring ways in which Information and Communications Technology (ICT) can support teaching and learning. This chapter describes one innovation in which ICT has been used to support two processes that are essential to educational change: the processes of curriculum renewal and teacher professional development. Based on findings and experiences from this four-year study, suggestions for using ICT in societies at similar stages of transition are offered.
