Abstract

A new snake genus Xenophidion gen. nov., as well as two new species, X. acanthognathus spec. nov. and X. schaeferi spec. nov., are described on the basis of two specimens from Malaysia. Xenophidion is regarded as a distinct evolutionary lineage, presumably of the Colubridae, whose closest relatives remain to be identified.
