Abstract

An analysis of syntactic features found in the Syrohexapla of Ezekiel in comparison to the Peshitta, on the one hand, demonstrates diachronic development within the Syriac language, and in comparison to the Greek, on the other hand, proves that the Syrohexapla translation was made for scholarly purposes, not for congregational use.
