Abstract

Crossing the early modern Pacific Ocean presented many challenges. This chapter seeks to provide some insights into the food provisions, diseases, and medical supplies found on board galleons. I will also discuss some aspects of transcultural medical knowledge transfer and introduce some results of our ongoing ERC AdG project transpacific.
