A new freshwater crab of the genus Sinopotamon Bott, , S. baokangense sp. nov. (Potamidae), is described from Baokang County, Hubei Province, P.R. China. The new species closely resembles two other Chinese species: S. cochlearidigitum Dai, Chen, Zhang & Lin, , from Fang and Zhushan Counties; and S. introdigitum Dai, Chen, Zhang & Lin, , from Fang and Yun Counties and Shennongjia, in general morphology and their distinctive spoon-tipped cheliped fingers. The new species, however, can easily be distinguished by a number of cheliped, male abdominal, and male first gonopod characters.
