Abstract

This is an introduction to and brief interpretation of a collection of papers first delivered in November 2006 at a section meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature in Washington DC. The section was entitled "Bakhtin and the Biblical Imagination," and the particular subject under review was a monograph by Professor Barbara Green, How Are the Mighty Fallen? A Dialogical Study of King Saul in 1 Samuel (JSOTS 365; Sheffield: Sheffield Academic Press, 2003).
