Abstract

In his article, the author maintains the view that within the Central Iranian linguistic continuum, there is a separate dialect area including ten small villages, which he calls the Abyāne group, after the name of its most typical member. He supports his argument by discussing two characteristic isoglosses for this group—the terms for "mouth" and "dog".
