Abstract

The present paper is an attempt to elucidate some aspects of the social and legal status of slaves and, generally, the dependent populace in the North-Eastern Caucasus. The material introduced here allows to reveal some characteristic features of slavery and servitude, as well as several forms of deprivation of rights and social harrasment of the people belonging to lower classes in the mentioned area during the late mediaeval period.
