Abstract

The genitalia of 13 brachypterous female geometrids are described, of which 12 have not previously been fully described: Operophtera brumata (Linné, 1758), (previously described by Wolff 1964), O. fagata Scharfenberg, 1805, Alsophila aescularia (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1776), Theria rupicapraria (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1776) (by Fibiger & Schmack 1978), Agriopis aurantiaria (Hübner, 1796), A. leucophaearia (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1776), A. marginaria (Borkhausen, 1794), Phigalia pilosaria (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1776) (pedaria Fabricius, 1787), Lycia (Poecilopsis) pomonaria (Hübner, 1790), L. (P.) lapponaria (Boisduval, 1840), Apocheima hispidaria (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1776) and Nyssia zonaria (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1776). A special interest has been paid to the peculiar setae in T. rupicapraria, anteroventrally to the papillae anales. Setae of this shape have so far been recorded only from the tortricoid subfamily Cnephasinae.
