A taxonomic treatment of Phorbia curwcauda (Zetterstedt) (syn: remotella Zetterstedt; pygialis Pandelle) and 4 closely related Palearctic species is given. Two species, P. bartaki sp. n. and P. melania sp. n., are widespread in Europe but have previously been confused with P. curvicauda. Another two species, P. falcata sp. n. and P. italica sp. n., are described from Mongolia and Italy respectively. Keys to males and females are provided.
