Abstract

The relation between radiation intensity and visual preferences in Locusta migratoria was tested with four different types of visual stimuli. At high radiation intensity, the strongest preference was for black and at low radiation intensity for vertical lines. The possible ecological significance of the preferences demonstrated is discussed.
