Abstract

Descriptions of the male and larva of the Oriental soldier fly Camptopteromyia fractipennis de Meijere are given. Adults were reared from larvae collected inside internodes of bamboo in Malaysia. Distinguishing characters of the adults, larvae and puparia are described and illustrated. Notes are provided on the biology of C. fractipennis, and the systematic position of the genus is briefly discussed.
