Abstract

The twelve species of Machadonia, all occurring in southern Africa, are revised and illustrated and a key to species is provided. Machadonia is considered as incertae sedis in the superfamily Lycosoidea. The following five new species are proposed: Machadonia meikleae, M. sibyna, M. acaenata, M. transversa, and M. Ieleupi. A cladogram for those 9 species known from both sexes is proposed.
