Abstract

The body morphology of Uralia is studied. Except for the simple (non-segmented) styli on the pregenital abdominal segments, no characters have been found that are exceptionally plesiomorphic for a pterygote insect. The position of the Diaphanopterida within the clade Cimiciformes + Scarabaeiformes is confirmed.
