Abstract

Seven new species of Gymnopria Loiácono from Brazil are described and illustrated: Gymnopria clavata, G. coriacea, G. distinguenda, G. elongata, G. masneri, G. minima and G. pilosa. A generic redescription of Gymnopria and a key to species are given. A cladistic analysis of the nine known species, using Szelenyiopria Fabritius to root the tree, resulted in four most parsimonious cladograms, the preferred is (Szelenyiopria (G. masneri ((G. minima - G. elongata) ((G. distinguenda - G. clavata) (G. pilosa (G. coriacea (G. lucens - G. pampeana))))))).
