The genitalia of a male of the Australian moth Cryptophasa lasiocosma Lower have been dissected. The valves and particularly the phallic apparatus showed some morphologically very primitive traits, which place it close to the hitherto hypothetical intermediate form in respect of the formation of an aedoeagus from the valvellae.
