Abstract

Adults and larvae of the six species of the sawfly venus Hemichroa are keyed and discussed. Reprentatives are found in Eurasia and North America. . orientalis Rohwer is a new synonym of H. crocea Fourcroy), and H. amelanchieridis Rohwer and H. thoracicus Harrington are new synonyms of H. militaris (Cresson). The larvae feed on the foliage of Alnus, Betula, Corylus, Salix, Crataegus, Amelanchier, and Prunus.
