In Sweden Culicidae are represented by two subfamilies and five genera: Anophelinae (Anopheles) and Culicinae (Coquillettidia, Aedes, Culiseta, Culex). A brief taxonomic survey is made of the species which occur in Fennoscandia and adjacent areas. The list comprises 53 species of which 42 have hitherto been found in Sweden. The geographic distribution is given in tabular form and based on published records as well as on unpublished material.
