Abstract
This paper analyses a number of morphophonological alternations in the Yukaghir languages with the aim of the internal reconstruction of pre-Proto-Yukaghir. The main focus is on the simplification of complex consonant clusters arising on morphological boundaries between consonant-final root allomorphs and derivational suffixes. The paper also contains a new reconstruction of Proto-Yukaghir and pre-Proto- Yukaghir consonantism.
