In the introduction to this special issue, I briefly mentioned the methods used to identify the works exhibited in the 1890 exhibition (see “Introduction: 4. Identifying the Exhibited Works and General Tendencies in the Exhibits,” pp. 19–22). Here, I will discuss the methods and accuracy of identification by presenting more specific examples. In the following article, the Abridged List of the identified works is presented; the Complete List is available on <https://dx.doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.4509251>. The aims of the two lists and the differences between them are also explained below.
