Abstract

The religious-cultural climate of our days is determined by legal conflicts over religion, which often trigger major public controversies. With a methodological reference to Pierre Bourdieu these conflicts and controversies are described as struggles over the borders of the religious field. It is hypothesized that the driving force behind these struggles is a hidden dilemma that is intrinsically connected with the fundamental right of religious freedom.
