Abstract

In this article, Sidney H. Rooy chronicles the development of the Latin American Council of Churches (CLAI) up to and including its 2001 Assembly in Baranquilla, Colombia. This organization, the author explains, understands the church's mission as rooted in the mission of God as such. Because of this, mission is not only about individual conversion and church-centered concerns, but about witnessing to justice in the world and peace and reconciliation among peoples.
