Abstract

The context, in which Christianity in Asia is situated can be characterized2 by both the massive poverty of the Asian people and their deep adherence to (non-Christian) religions, which make the Christian Churches a tiny minority in Asia. Therefore Christians in search for a new identity in Asia have often been turning either to 'development' activities or to dialogue with other religions. The question however is, whether there is also a relationship between development and dialogue, and if so, how does it work, what are its implications.
