Studying Religious Change Through Replication: Some Methodological Issues

Abstract

In the post-war period, British social science produced a number of high quality community studies, many of which describe the religious life of some place in considerable detail. This article discusses the advantages and disadvantages of using such studies as base-lines against which to assess change.
